2015 Slim’s Fishing Derby Results

The 7th annual Slim’s Fishing Derby was held on February 14th. Even though most ponds were covered in feet of snow, there were still 244 registrations from people hoping to land the biggest fish, or a chance at the $1000 grand prize.

Fourteen anglers braved the 17-below temperatures to weigh their fish. Winners were a 2.28lb, 19.53” Salmon; 2.99lb, 20.55” Brown Trout; 3.61lb, 19.80” Togue; and a 5lb 19.84” Bass. Three next generation fishermen weighed their fish, with the largest being a 3.5lb, 18.25” Bass.  The proud young man who won the kids category will receive a lifetime fishing license.

Even though a blizzard forecast of two feet of snow and 60mph winds shortened the event from two days to one, the derby was still able to award $2600 in prizes and raise more than $2200 for the Jimmy Douglass Memorial scholarship.

The 11-member committee would like to express our appreciation to the many individuals and business who supported the derby with more than $1500 in donations, gift certificates and advertising.

And to all of those who registered to enter the derby: We hope you had a great time and look forward to seeing you all again next year!
