2023 SLIM’S FISHING DERBY
The 2023 Slim’s Fishing Derby has been canceled.
This is the hardest decision we have had to make in 14 years of hosting out derby. Most of the work is already done. Our great sponsors have already supported us. Many of our loyal participants have already purchased tickets. We love to see all the activity at our event, all the people, the kids with their proud catch.
The ice conditions seem to vary greatly from pond to pond, even from foot to foot. Safe in many spots, and dangerous in as many others. It is these unknown and inconsistent conditions that make it the most dangerous. We want our events to be safe. And we want all of you to be safe. We work to promote safe and responsible fishing, and we could not do that given the conditions this year. We couldn’t ask you to go out on the ice when we wouldn’t go on it ourselves.
In the end it was with your safety in mind that we made this difficult decision.
